Review: Candy for Christmas by Joanne Fluke

Candy For ChristmasIn the Novella, Hannah Swenson, owner of The Cookie Jar, discovers that someone has broken into her store. Perhaps this individual is simply sleeping there to stay warm. Whoever this individual is, they clean up before they leave. So Hannah plans, with Norman’s help, to catch the intruder in the act (and they do). What unwinds is a tale of innocence and a dysfunctional family who is reunited due to Hannah’s understanding and sense of fairness.

This was an adorable little novella added to the back of Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder. I thought about including this review with my review of the book, but the two stories had two different tones and it just wouldn’t have read well.

This holiday novella is about the mysterious circumstances behind a young girl’s appearance in The Cookie Jar, just a few days prior to Christmas. When Hannah comes in and discovers the shop is mysteriously clean and someone has left them delicious candies, she can’t help but want to help out the poor girl. The story is touching and it comes with its very own happy ever after.

This a adorable story to read during the holiday season and I think any fan of cozy mysteries will enjoy this. Even if it doesn’t involve much of a mystery, it does help to create a more amicable environment for a reader to really connect with some of the side characters.

  1. I’ve read Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder, but haven’t read the novella. I will have to look for it!

    • It was in the back if the book? Maybe it’s the version I got from the library?
Here’s the ISBN: 0-7582-1350-6 in case your local library has a few versions. Knowing your love for cozy mysteries, I think you’ll adore it. 😀
