Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly blog hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
Today’s theme is all about our five star reviews. Now, I like to think that I have a fairly decent amount of five star reviews versus how many books I read a day. By that I mean, I don’t believe I hand them out like crazy. If anything I tend to do more two to four star reviews. I’ve decided only to feature the five star reviews I’ve done so far for this year. Below you’ll find snippets of my reviews. Feel free to look at them if you wish. But hopefully you’ll find a new book to add to your TBR!
1 – 5 The Girls from the Baby-sitters Club
I was obsessed with The Baby-sitters Club when I was a little kid. I first discovered the series when I was in kindergarten and these girls were how I grew up. I lived vicariously through them and even strived to create my own club when I was old enough. Of course that didn’t happen. But I loved the series so much I’ve been rereading it for the past year. I would love to see what became of Stacey, Mary Anne, Dawn, Claudia and Kristy (in that order.) Did Kristy become some star softball player who almost made it to the Olympics? Did Claudia ever finally get her act together in school? What kind of careers did they have? Are they married? Do they have kids?
6. Jesse from Bridge to Terabithia
This was one of my favorite books as a child and I was always curious as to how life turned out for Jesse and his little sister. Perhaps Jesse went on to write a great American novel about his time in Terabithia and how Leslie is still the ruler of it? Or maybe he turned to his art and created works based on the mythical land they ruled over?
7 – 9 Peter, Susan and Ducan from My Teacher is an Alien series
In book four of this series, the kids have to convince the interplanetary council to not destroy the Earth, but to give them the opportunity to develop into a better planet. After agreeing to send alien teachers to help teach the new generation, the series ends. I would love to find out what has happened to them in the past 20+ years. Perhaps it’s about time to re-evaluate Earth and the trio will be summoned before the council once more.
10 – 12 Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire from A Series of Unfortunate Events
Though the children finally escaped Count Olaf, who else wondered what happened to these three kids who can never seem to find happiness? I think it would be interesting to see if they finally found their way. Perhaps they found their happiness and the next generation of Baudelaires find themselves dealing with their own series of unfortunate events.
13. Lemony Snicket
Oh come on! He was a mystery back when A Series of Unfortunate Events was first being published and I admit, I’m still curious to know more about him. After all, he was kind of a character himself.
I’m afraid that’s all I have for today. Can’t wait to see what you all have listed today!
