For the first time since Tessa met Dastien, life is quiet. The evil witch, Luciana, is six glorious feet under, St. Ailbe’s is closed due to human trespassers, and people are finally getting used to the fact that supernaturals exist in the world. It seems like the perfect time for a honeymoon.
After traveling to Dastien’s house in Provence, clubbing in Paris, and attending Meredith and Donovan’s Full Moon Ceremony in Ireland, Tessa and Dastien head to the Caribbean. Their trip is turning out to be the honeymoon that fantasies are made of-sunset cruises, long walks on the beach, and every romantic cliché you can imagine. Tessa couldn’t be happier. Except that Tessa’s visions are on the fritz. She hopes that means that nothing is brewing. That everything is quiet because all is well. But Tessa’s never been one to assume anything.
When she’s magically attacked and nearly dies, Tessa knows she can’t ignore the signs anymore. Something huge is going on. As much as she doesn’t want to call an end to their six-week honeymoon, it’s time to head back to Texas.
Whoever messed with Tessa is in for a rude awakening. Because if there’s one thing fighting rogue witches and werewolves has taught her, it’s how to be Alpha.
I have to say that I’m always terrible at making playlists. The music I listen to when I’m writing is all I can think about when I come up with a playlist. Each book has a different set of songs that help me get into the right frame of mind so that I can write that day. Sometimes it’s classical, sometimes it’s EDM, sometimes it’s soundtracks, sometimes it’s Nine Inch Nails, and sometimes it’s a mix of all of that.
For this book—as with any Tessa and Dastien—it’s a trance-based EDM mix. But I added a couple of classical tracks that I found inspiring while writing, as well as the Rabbit in the Moon track that Tessa talks about in the book.
“I will be there” – Tiesto & Sneaky Sound System (Wolfgang Gartner Radio Edit) – I listened to this every day as I sat down to write, and sometimes on repeat the whole writing session.
“Need to Feel Loved” – Reflekt (Adam K & Soha Vocal Mix)
“Open Your Eyes” – Aurosonic Featuring Kate Louise Smith (Progressive Mix)
“Sun In Your Eyes” – Above & Beyond
“Fly” – Ludovico Einaudi
“Time” – Hans Zimmer
“Naked” – Above & Beyond & Justine Suissa
“Concrete Angel” – Gareth Emery feat. Christina Novelli
“Floori.D.A.” – Rabbit in the Moon (Tessa likes the part from 50min and on the best, but the whole thing is interesting) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCjAYzc_-bA&t=3069s
And just for honesty’s sake, when I’m super stressed on a deadline, this is all I listen to while writing. I’m not sure if it’s really repairing my DNA, but it makes me much calmer. One of my cousins sent it to me when I was really going through a hard time and trying to also write, and it got me through. I still lean on it from time to time.
